Don't Give Your Favorite Teachers an Apple: Give Them an Eddy
While you were watching the Grammys and Oscars, a teacher was grading your kids' work. Here's your chance to give an important Eddy award to those who are too often overlooked.
Nominations have opened for the Eddys, the Santa Cruz awards for outstanding work in the city's schools.
You can nominate teachers in such categories as: outstanding teacher; unsung hero; the green award; wellness award; innovation award; school of the year and community supporter of the year.
Fill out a nomination here, at the Santa Cruz Education Foundation website. Nominations are accepted through March 28. Winners will be announced mid-April, and the prizes given at a ceremony at Kuumbwa Jazz Center May 3.
“We want to hear about the teachers who are changing kids’ lives; the parent volunteers and employees who give 110% every day; and the programs that are making a real difference,” said Suz Howells, Santa Cruz Education Foundation president, in a press release. “This is our opportunity to acknowledge and support the people and programs that make Santa Cruz City Schools great.”
Here's a description of the categories:
