5 Places to Catch the Big Game Sunday

More people will be watching television Sunday than any day this year. Here are places to get out and mingle while you watch.

 

Madonna, prizes, and happy hour prices are sure to draw football fans to Santa Cruz on Super Bowl Sunday.

The hottest spots to view Super Bowl XLVI have big screens, good food and some interesting bargains. The top picks include:

Betty’s Eat Inn owned by the same company as Betty Burgers hopes to attract patrons with their big screen televisions and is known for their family friendly food and atmosphere. They offer a full bar and sit down service along with outdoor seating.

1222 Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz

If you want to multi-talk, or if you dropped football after the Niners' fumble, Boardwalk Bowl  near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk offers four hours of bowling from 3-7 p.m. for only $40 per lane. The place will be darkened for black light effects and will show the game on giant screens between lanes. Each lane will host 5-6 people and reservations are required. Call (831) 426-3324.

Brady's Yaught Club, 413 Seabright Ave., Santa Cruz's oldest bar, will host a potluck for the big game that will include a BBQ and Bloody Mary's.  As they say on their Facebook page:  Non-yacht owners also welcome!  

Clouds Downtown will kick off the day with Sunday Brunch specials starting at $6.95 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and $9 endless Mimosas all day. The game will be viewed on two large screens after live jazz performs during brunch.

The El Palomar Cantina and Taco Bar offers trivia games and prizes to spice up the game. There will be Bud and Bud light specials starting at 2:30 p.m. along with Absolute drink specials in the Cantina and taco bar along with six big screen TV’s.

The appetizers will be tailgate inspired and begin as early as 11:00 a.m.

The Seabright Brewery has a huge selection of beer and even though the local team went to the dogs, is dog friendly.

There will be five screens inside and at least one giant screen outside for those who want to watch with Fido and friends.

“We expect a big mix of different fans,” says server Alicia Sebatian.

The doors will open from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
