During November and December, New Leaf Community Markets collected $17,336 in customer donations for area food banks, which will provide 69,343 meals for families in need. $10,835 was given to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County.
“We are so happy for the many years the New Leaf team has been supporting Second Harvest Santa Cruz and specifically the Holiday Food Drive. This year, more than ever, the team really stepped it up. Due to the efforts and generosity of management, employees, and the customers of New Leaf, Second Harvest was able to provide more than 40,000 healthy meals to those in need,” Steve Bennett, Development Director, Second Harvest Food Bank.
Through its network of more than 200 agencies and programs and over 3,000 volunteers, the food bank distributes over eight million pounds of food annually.
