A long time friend of Rising's is in need of our help! Farooq Ghulam is known in Afghanistan for advocating that women and girls should have the right to learn to read and write, that's why he's such a special friend of Rising!!! He led CARE International's first Girl's Education Initiative in Afghanistan. His son was recently honored with a Fullbright scholarship to study in San Francisco and he's arriving this Saturday to the Bay Area. Team Rising was able to find his son and his friend a great apartment to rent in Albany. The apartment, however is not furnished. We're looking for sheets, towels, blankets, and a ton of kitchen stuff. We need furniture too - beds, futon, desks, kitchen table, chairs, etc - but how do we get everything to Albany? Does anyone have a van and some burly guys to help?
