Want to join the area's biggest block party?
The Santa Cruz Neighbors Night Out program is looking for sponsors for its noon to 8 p.m. event Sept. 29.
The event seeks to unite neighbors one block at a time for barbecues, ice cream socials, parties, potlucks or other events to open the lines of communication among neighbors.
The event is timed to coincide with the returnb of UCSC students. The first event in 2009 had 31 neighborhoods participate; last year there were 50.
Those who register early can get visits from SCPD and Fire, as well as martial arts instructors and local VIPS.
