In preparation for the 2013-14 NBA D-League season, the Santa Cruz Warriors will hold two open tryouts in October. Aspiring pros will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Warriors coaches on Sunday, October 6 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz (140 Front Street) or Saturday, October 19 at the Golden State Warriors Practice Facility in Oakland (the fifth floor of 1011 Broadway).

“This is an exciting time for the Santa Cruz Warriors, coming off a storybook inaugural year that took us to the NBA D-League Finals,” said Santa Cruz Warriors General Manager Kirk Lacob. “As we begin to assemble a team for the upcoming season, we’re always looking for quality talent to make us competitive on the floor and build on last year’s success.”

In recent years, several players have had success in the NBA D-League after attending open tryouts. Daniel Nwaelele made the Santa Cruz Warriors last season after impressing the coaching staff at an open tryout in Oakland. Stefhon Hannah, the reigning NBA D-League Defensive Player of the Year, began his D-League career three seasons ago at an open tryout.
