12th Annual Medicine Buddha Festival Is June 28; Sacred Relics Also On Display

Land of Medicine Buddha opens its center to the community once a year for a day of festivities -- and that day is Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the retreat grounds at 5800 Prescott Road, Soquel.

The public is invited to discover the beauty and vibrancy of the Tibetan Culture, the beautiful grounds, community, and the ancient lineage of Buddhist practices kept alive by the Dalai Lama and offered at the Retreat Center.

Also during that weekend is the Maitreya Loving Kindness Tour -- a free public exhibition of ancient and sacred relics of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni and many other great Buddhist masters from India, Tibet, Korea and China.

The treasures will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Land of Medicine Buddha in Soquel on: Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29.

Buddhists believe relics embody the master’s spiritual qualities of compassion and wisdom and are deliberately produced by the master at his death.

The Tour has visited 68 countries and over 2.3 million people have seen the relics, with 2014 stops in San Francisco, Seattle, Des Moines, New York, Grand Rapids, Pittsburgh and Toronto.

Maitreya Loving Kindness Tour events are multi-faith, multi-cultural and are always free to attend, and intended for people from all walks of life and faith.
