"Ryan Concannon is one of the smartest, kindest, and passionate people I know," wrote Cabrillo bicycle advocate Katie Hickok in a letter to that school's administration and students. "He recently graduated from UCSC and has dreams just like you and me.  He is 21 years old and he has the most passion to live out of anyone I know.  This passion, we all hope, will be enough to wake him up.

"I have met many young adult bike enthusiasts who do not wear helmets and a majority of them say things like...
I'm cautious when I ride my bike OR I don't need a helmet OR I prefer the wind breezing through my hair OR helmet hair isn't pretty OR they are simply not cool OR they are expensive

"Unfortunately accidents happen and can happen to anyone. Injury from an accident can be prevented by simply wearing a helmet.''
