Get Out in Santa Cruz: A Greek Festival, Harbor High Football and More

The annual Santa Cruz County Fair begins this week in Watsonville, an art show fundraiser downtown and a weekend football game for Harbor High.

Where/When: 825 41st Ave, Santa Cruz, CA. Friday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Why Go: DJ Ray Stevens II will be spinning tunes to accompany the  BBQ spread and raffle. Guests are encouraged to check out the artwork and purchase a Board Rescue T-shirt. All decks will be on display at the Santa Cruz Boardroom from September 16th to October 7th. All Proceeds go to Board Rescue. Board Rescue is a non-profit public benefit corporation that provides skateboards and safety equipment to organizations that work with underprivileged and at-risk children.

Why Go: Meet visiting ceramic artist Wesley Anderegg, snack on BBQ potluck treats and enjoy the clay-inspired movie selection.  Free if you bring something to share at the BBQ.  Come and be inspired!  Meet fellow clay-heads and enjoy a fun evening at the Art Center!

Where/When: , 2601 E Lake Ave, Watsonville, CA. Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

Why Go: "Dancing With the Steers For 200 Years" in the theme for this years County Fair.  The fair will join fairs from across the country in celebrating the 200thanniversary of county fairs in America. Panels depicting that first fair, the history and highlights of fairs since, and the future of fairs, will be on display in the Harvest Building as an exhibit titled “Made in America - The Story of the Modern Fair.”  Arts and Crafts, Live Music and a handful of other attractions will also take place throughout the week.

Where/When: , 300 la Fonda Ave, Santa Cruz, CA. Saturday, 2 p.m. 

Why Go: The Harbor High football team squares off against Mills High on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Harbor High. The Pirates are coming off a gritty 16-13 victory over Stevenson Prep School-Pebble Beach in week two. Head coach Jeff Cox leads the Pirates back into action at 2 p.m. this wekeend. Harbor opens Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play on Oct. 7 at Santa Cruz High.

Where/When: , 223 Church St, Santa Cruz, CA. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

Why Go: Come out and enjoy live music, dancing and all the Greek food you can handle this weekend at the Greek Festival in Santa Cruz. The Greek Festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Prophet Elias Greek Orthrodox Church. The fun starts Friday at 5 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. on the first night. Saturday the festival begins at 11 a.m. and wraps up at 10 p.m. Day three kicks off at noon and closes up at 8 p.m.
