Get Out in Santa Cruz: Concert at Catalyst, Bowling and More

Eddie Money rocks the Boardwalk, design some sweet new kicks downtown or shop along the city's sidewalks during the monthly sidewalk sale.

Where/When: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Saturday, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Get your team of four together. Sign up online and pass the word along in the community to help drum up pledge donations for a worthy cause. The money raised through the Bowl-A-Thon directly supports Haven of Hope's mission to help children thrive in our community. Haven of Hope's program provides residential treatment services to foster youth and their families. Throw a strike or two this weekend and help members in need in your community

Pricing: $100 of pledge money raised per bowler.

Where/When: Downtown Santa Cruz, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: The great shops of Santa Cruz overflow onto the streets on the last weekend of every month all summer long. Come out and hunt for some great deals all across the city and soak up the summer sun in the process. 

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Old School Shoes, 1017 Pacific Ave., Santa Cruz. Saturday, 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Buy a pair of canvas shoes or bring your own
and create walking works of art. Everyone has their own style. Come out and find yours!

Pricing: $10

Where/When: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Friday, shows at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. 

Why Go: The second to last show of the summer features rocker Eddie Money. Money burst onto the scene with his self titled debut album in 1977 featuring hits "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise". More catchy rock tunes soon followed, including "Take Me Home Tonight" and "I think I'm in Love". The boardwalk fun is calling you and the family. Come out and rock out by the beach before it's too late. 

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Catalyst Nightclub, 1011 Pacific Ave., Santa Cruz. Saturday, 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Why Go: The weekend show at the Catalyst offers two bands and a encore showing of the documentary film "The Catalyst" at 8 p.m. Snail and The Spell will both rock the stage for patrons. The Catayst film showcases the four decade run of music excellence held at the venue and features classic performances from The Doobie Brothers, Neil Young and Huey Lewis and the News. 

Pricing: $10 advance, $15 at door.
