Get Out in Santa Cruz: Santa Cruz High Football, A Rummage Sale and More

A community drumming event for a noble cause, the Northern California Renaissance Faire and the 56th annual Omega Nu Rummage sale.

Where/When: , 415 Walnut Ave, Santa Cruz, CA. Friday, 7:30 p.m. 

Why Go: The Santa Cruz High football team finishes up it's non-league schedule this Friday against North Salinas High. Fresh off a 42-21 victory over Pajaro Valley High in Watsonville, the Cardinals will look to extend their winning streak to three games this Friday at home. Santa Cruz topped Watsonville High 10-6 two weeks ago. The Cardinals open Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play at defending league champ San Lorenzo Valley on Oct. 1. at 2 p.m.

Where/When: 6500 Soquel Dr, Aptos, CA. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

Why Go: During the event, children and families may tour the facility and experience pre-school activities and Children’s Center staff will be present to answer questions. Pre-school slots are currently open to children of students, faculty and community members. Applications will be available.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Corner of Thurber Lane and Soquel Drive. Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Why Go: There's the Ducky Derby in the spring and the annual rummage sale in the fall. The latter staple of Omega Nu falls on the calendar this weekend in Santa Cruz. Come out either day this weekend and browse through clothing, household items, toys, books and more. Shop or bring some items to sell! 

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Casa de Fruta, 10031 Pacheco Pass Hwy, Hollister, CA. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: Join the villagers of Willingtown as they celebrate Bacchanal and the traditional feast of Michelmas. This weekend is a visual treat as garlands and masks are donned by men and women. Patrons are encouraged to wear a mask and/or garland. A beautiful selection of both can be found at the faire, or you may choose to have a mask painted on. Each weekend provides a new adventure an the annual faire. Don't miss out on all the mischief and fun to be had!

Pricing: $25 general admission. $35 for a weekend pass. 

Where/When: , 1003 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz, CA. Saturday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

Why Go: Percussionist Jim Greiner will conduct his annual Community Drumming Benefit as a fundraiser for Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services. Greiner will raffle off a pair of Conga drums with stand donated by Latin Percussion Instruments.  Raffle tickets are $5 at the event. This long time Santa Cruz tradition is for all ages and people from all walks of life.  Instruments provided and bring your own favorites!
