Santa Cruz, the city reputed for its laid-back, easy-breezy style, took 12th place among "The Snobbiest Small Cities In America."

The rankings -- see the full story here -- were put together by Movoto Real Estate. The company used medial home price, median income and percentage of people with college degrees.
Palo Alto, meanwhile, ranked No. 1.
Also in the Top Ten from California: San Rafael was No. 4; Walnut Creek No. 5; Encinitas tied with a Maryland town at No. 8; and Laguna Niguel was No. 10.
