Join Santa Cruz Sanctuary for 'Tent Sidewalk Party' This Weekend

News and invitation from Santa Cruz Sanctuary Village:

Join us for a Tent Sidewalk Party. We'll have snack food and live music.

Bring a tent to temporarily set up while the event happens. Saturday, June 14 at  6 p.m. at Abbott Square, Cooper St. in Santa Cruz.

We're coming together to show our solidarity with our homeless friends by hosting a "Happening" where tents will temporarily appear downtown.

We'll gather in our downtown public space with each other to socialize and talk about the issue of homelessness.  This is a legal "positive loitering" event.

We encourage you to bring a smaller sized tent to set up, and if you're able to leave it for a homeless person, we'll bring the extra tents to the Homeless Service Center as donations for our friends who sleep outside.

It is illegal to sleep outside at night, and we know that literally hundreds will be sleeping out  this very night.

This doesn't happen without our concern for their well-being.

Santa Cruz Sanctuary Village is an initiative to establish a safe and clean place for people to sleep and keep personal belongings while they begin to heal the effects of homelessness in their lives.

In the meantime we wish to build our community of support by hosting various events such as this.  We're taking a stand that we'd like to see new solutions to this problem.

We want it known that not one night passes that we're not concerned for the people who sleep outside.

Lets have some fun together as we take a stand.
