Pregnant Woman Gives Birth on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz

A woman enroute to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz didn't make it there before her baby was born Thursday, according to a news report.

The pregnant woman was being driven in a car on Highway 1 southbound at 4:20 p.m. when she realized her baby was arriving, reports KSBW Monterey.

While the car was parked on the side of Highway 1 near the fishhook, the driver flagged down a CHP officer, who, in turn, called for an ambulance and the woman gave birth inside the ambulance with help from paramedics, KSBW TV Action News 8 reports.
