Local Jamsters 'Scott Cooper Band' Plays Crow's Nest April 24 in Santa Cruz

Scott Cooper, a Bay Area music veteran best-known for fronting the popular Grateful Dead-tribute The China Cats, is bringing his Scott Cooper Band to the Crow's Nest in Santa Cruz on April 24.

Cooper, who stays crazy busy with multiple, simultaneous projects, has played bass for over a decade with the Gary Gates Band and on Gates's CD "San Gregorio General Store," with bluegrass combo The Intangibillies, and solo and duo gigs, fronting his own band and often with Jim Lewin (Great American Taxi), and had a solo CD that reached #5 on the national jam band radio charts in 2012.

Oh, and he also teaches guitar at UC Santa Cruz.

His Scott Cooper Band, a New Orleans-inspired Americana with bluesy, country sounds and some cover hits, features Lachlan Kane on piano and high harmonies, Terry Shields on bass and vocal harmonies and drummer Mark Corsolini (formerly of Dark Star Orchestra and JGB).

The Crow's Nest show begins at 8:30 p.m. with a $5 cover charge.

The Crow's Nest Restaurant is at 2218 East Cliff Dr. in Santa Cruz.
