A Marin farmstand owned by two San Lorenzo Valley residents is expanding its line of house-made pickles, preserves, jam, marmalade, and salsa — and the owners are looking for community support to make it happen.
Ceceilia's Gardens farmstand, at 204 Tennessee Valley Rd. in Mill Valley, launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign earlier this month with a goal of raising $10,000. Nearing them mid-point of the campaign, Ceceilia's Gardens owners Josh Rickett and Marika Bourdeaux are about halfway to their goal.
The farmstand currently focuses on organic fresh fruits and vegetables, local eggs and honey. It also sells some canned products that Rickett, a former Cabrillo College student, makes.
Rickett and Bourdeaux, who studied Agro-ecology and Environmental Science at UC Santa Cruz, met while both worked for Beckman's Bakery in Santa Cruz. They gained experience selling at farmers markets before taking over the farmstand from Rickett's family four years ago.
Much of the Kickstarter funds would go to completing the organic certification project and printing new labels to tout the accomplishment. Other monies would be dedicated to kitchen equipment, permits, a new website and fulfilling Kickstarter gifts to sponsors.
