The took in moving towards bringing the Golden State Warriors' D-League affiliate team to town.
While some at the meeting spoke out against building the arena, the vast majority of the public present seemed in favor of the project.
So that leaves us wondering, if this temporary tent-arena comes to life, will you go?
Are you a closet basketball fan just waiting to break out of your giant foam finger at a pro-sporting event? Or are you looking forward to rocking out with 4,000 of your closest friends at concerts slated to be held in b-ball's off-season?
Do you belong to the camp that sees parking becoming a major headache and an influx of out-of-towners as a reason to boycott the facility?
Other potential negative impacts include traffic and noise, though Assistant City Manager Tina Shull told the council last night that no major traffic impacts are predicted due to parking distribution.
A $3.5 million loan from the city to the team is no small matter, either.
The council, which voted unanimously in favor of the arena, heard arguments that the facility "may serve as a catalyst for revitalization in the area between the beach and downtown."
What potential upsides do you see? How about down? Tell us in the comments not only how you feel about the new arena but what it is you are looking forward to/dreading the most.
Here's your chance to vote yay or nay—or you're not sure yet—as well as let the community know what you see is the potential good and/or bad to come out of the deal.
Voting will close 6 p.m. Friday.
