The 12 Days of Sunsets: They are Best in the Winter and Late Fall

The shoreline was packed at Seacliff State Park Tuesday as people were shooting pics of the dropping sun and reddening sky.

Why are winter sunsets best? The clear Canadian air overhead in the winter filters out blues and allows bold red and orange rays, the longer ones, to shine through. More info here from weather.com and NOAA.

Then, there are the clouds this time of year, usually from humidity, but this week also from the fires in Big Sur. The give the sun's light some drama.
