What do you think of the new $10 million, 18,000-square-foot Palo Alto Medical Foundation building going up on the Westside at Mission and Van Ness?
Residents were vehemently against it for its obstruction of views and for the already unsafe nature of the bend in Mission Street near it.
It's almost impossible to safely get make a right on Laurent Street across the way because of the vision-obstructing curve and the speed of the oncoming northbound traffic. You get the blink of an eye to pull into the roadway and if you live there, you have to find a place to do a U-Turn to head east or south.
The city council approved it after lengthy complaints from neighbors. Now that it's going in, many in the neighborhood say it's worse than they expected. Some, however, say they are glad to have health care on the Westside. What do you think now?
The building is due to open in July and hold 12-18 doctors and includes family, internal medicine, pediatricians, urgent care services, radiology and a lab.
