Ukrainians Begin Santa Cruz Visit on Monday

Members of our Santa Cruz sister city will be available to meet at 2pm.

(Editor's Note: This press release appears on the City of Santa Cruz website.)

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The Sister Cities Committee will officially greet a teachers delegation from its sister city of Alushta, Ukraine in a brief ceremony on Monday, February 4 at 2:00 pm in the City Hall Courtyard.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet Alushta principal Tamara Sitenko, and teachers Natalia Leontieva and Tatiana Krylovo as they start their 3-week visit in Santa Cruz to learn about our schools, culture and lifestyle.

Retired Santa Cruz school teacher Kris Kennedy spent a month participating as an exchange teacher in Alushta classrooms last March; this is the highly anticipated reciprocal visit.

While here the delegates will be teaching in Bay View, Gault and Westlake Elementary Schools, meeting with city and school officials, and exploring Santa Cruz and the greater Bay area.

The Santa Cruz Sister Cities Committee is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Santa Cruz-Alushta relationship and our connections remain vibrant with social, cultural and business exchanges.

Please join us in this latest exchange of ideas and good will! For details, call 831-420-5277.
