American Idol: James Durbin now in Top Five; Wild Card Casey Abrams Gone

I have to say I'm not a homer. If James Durbin were average or even very good, I'd say so.

Watch this duet, which I heard other critics put down as an example of Durbin not being so good. I disagree.  He was every bit the equal of Jacob Lusk. It's going to be a tough call between the two, however. 

They are both classy and soulful singers. Lusk can hit the highs and brings out the soul in the lows, like Ray Charles. Durbin skews toward rock and the same kind of pyrotechnic highs that made Mariah Carey a star.

Clearly, they are both stars. Both have parents who were in the music business. 

I'll be shocked if they aren't the final two, but voting comes down to so many factors, not all of which have to do with ability.
