A night of song with Ariel Thiermann including special guests Mayim and Austin Willacy

Blending fresh poetic imagery with evocative melody local singer/songwriter Ariel Thiermann is a vocal powerhouse. Her unmistakable lyrical style has been compared to such icons as Joan Armatrading and Laura Nyro. Last month Thiermann released a new EP featuring the theme song and the acoustic adaptation of the theme song from the documentary - THRIVE: What on Earth Will it Take? Both Ariel and the documentary have been gaining nationwide attention amid the growing Occupy Movement. The words and music to this song convey a definite urgency, yet deliver a hopeful and positive message like that of the film itself and is the result of the work of an incredible pool of talented musicians from Northern California. Ariel has released two solo CDs and is working on a third to be released in 2012.

The show also includes special guests A Cappella trio Mayim and singer/songwriter Austin Willacy. Mayim performs original folk and soul, classical and sacred music from around the world. Austin Willacy is a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter who has toured the U.S., Europe and Japan with The House Jacks, a groundbreaking all-vocal rock band. Influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz and Dave Matthews, he’s appeared in Rolling Stone and has performed with Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, James Brown and rising stars like Jem, Rachael Yamagata & Amos Lee.
