Why: This is a chance to hear the man who knows more about local history than anyone, roasted by some of the top names in town, including, Sheriff Phil Wowak, UCSC professor Gary Griggs, columnist Bruce Bratton, writer Geoffrey Dunn, former mayor Mike Rotkin, developer and philanthropist George Ow, artist Madelyn McCaul and Judge Bill Kelsey.

Cost: $18

Why: This performance art piece, mixing original music by Albert Mathias and choreography by Kathleen Hermesdorf is said to make you question everything you see. Do you believe in ghosts? You may see some here.

SATURDAY MAY 11

What: Sixth Annual Art and Chocolate Tour

Where: Artists' studios in Live Oak and Pleasure Point

When: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cost: FREE

SUNDAY MAY 12

What: Ruthie Foster

Where: Kuumbwa Jazz

When: 7:30 p.m.

Why: This bright light on the blues scene hails from Texas and is a rare mix of guitar slinger and soul singer. She got rave reviews for her performance at the Santa Cruz Blues Festival a few years back.  Her recent work focuses more on the singing, but she can and will do it all.
