Grab and Go Kids Planner for March 2-6

Our suggestions for five of the coolest things to do with your children in and around Santa Cruz this week and heading toward the weekend.

The kids are back in school, but still you want to come up with things you can do together. Let Patch help you out.

We've done the research, we've done your homework and we're ready to give you our suggestions for ways you can get up and go with your family this week and heading into the weekend.

Where/When: Gilroy High School, 750 W. 10th St., Gilroy, Wednesday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: To support the Santa Cruz High School varsity boys soccer team in the Central Coast Section semifinals against Sacred Heart Cathedral. If you have time to make the drive to Gilroy, the soccer team would really love to see you there!

Where/When: , 1305 E. Cliff Dr., Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Get to wander around the museum for free! There's no admission charge the first Thursday of the month, so take advantage of that. Take your stay-at-home kids and pick up the older ones and head over there after school. Enjoy!

Pricing:  Free

Where/When: 2446 Cabrillo College Dr., Soquel; Starts Friday for seven weeks, 9:30-11 a.m.

Why Go: If you are interested in the Montessori approach to education for your little ones, this is a good way to either get involved or if you are new to the idea, learn more about it. For you and your child. Santa Cruz Montessori School has a seven-week course of study and exchange starting this Friday. You can get more information and register by calling 831-476-1646.

Pricing: $45 for the seven-week course

Where/When: Civic Auditorium, 307 Church St., Santa Cruz, Sunday, 2 p.m. 

Why Go: To hear our very own county symphony orchestra with our children and to enjoy this kid-friendly foray into the music of the symphony and the "Rhythms of Life."

Pricing: $10; students and seniors, $8

Where/When: Westgate Mall, 1600 Saratoga Ave., San Jose, Saturday, 10 am. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: What's a child to do this summer? Go to summer camp, of course. At least part of the time. This Sunday is your chance and your child's chance to learn about more than 80 different summer camp offerings, at one time and under one roof!
