Not Blues, but Twisted Blues Will Rock the House Monday at Kuumbwa

Oz Noy will open some ears Monday and if you haven't heard of the oddly-named guitarist, you will.

What do you get when you cross the Rolling Stones bass player, Chick Corea's drummer and a twisted guitarist?

A show you don't want to miss.

Israeli-born guitarist Oz Noy has been pushing the frontiers of jazz for years, but on his latest work, Twisted Blues, Vol 1, he goes back to the roots and mixes his jazz stylings with America's oldest original music.

His trio includes Darryl Jones, who has been backing Mick Jagger and Keith Richards since 1993 and Dave Weckl, who played with Chick Corea's Electric Band and has backed Madonna, among others.

That's heavy-caliber star power for a Monday night in Santa Cruz.

They play Kuumbwa Jazz Center Monday at 7 p.m. and tickets are $28 at the door.
