See Back to the Future and Some Real DeLoreans

Free movie night at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk offers car lovers a treat.

To go with tonight's free 9 p.m. flick, Back to the Future, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is hosting a gathering of Northern California DeLorean owners.

Sadly, this is the last free beach movie of the summer.

On a positive note, the gull-winged cars will be on display from 4:30-11 p.m.

Two of them happen to be owned by the family of Patch freelancer Kevin Johnson, who provides the photos to the right. You can meet Kevin and me at the Boardwalk tonight at showtime.

Bruce Johnson, Kevin's dad, organized the gathering of DeLoreans for the Boardwalk.

The cars have appeared at other Santa Cruz events including the Cops N' Rodders Car show in Scotts Valley and the Hot Rods at the Beach car show in Santa Cruz.

Two of the cars have won 1st place awards in the "80s" division at Cops N' Rodders. The cars were recently on display at the opening of the digitally remastered version of Back To The Future at AMC Saratoga theaters.
