Dev Patel and a cast that included Robert Sheehan and Zoe Kravitz were filming a new movie called The Road Within Tuesday in Santa Cruz at Third Avenue and Cliff Drive, near Aldo's.
The shots were being done on the beach, and included one with a woman lying in the sand as if she were dying. OMG: IMDB.com says the movie is about a man with Tourette's Syndrome who travels across the country with his dead mother's ashes. Do they need a permit to dump ashes? Is this going to be a huge SC hit, like Harold and Maude? Or the next Rainman? Or Ash-nado. It sounds so creepy, there must be something brilliant about it.
Members of the movie's crew were trying to keep people off of Cliff Drive, telling them they bought the street for the day. Then, they told people they could use the street if they didn't take pictures of the crew.
"What about the stars?" (like who wants a picture of the guy who holds the lights?) "They are in the crew."
Then, he admitted, it was in fact a free country, and one could shoot pictures as long as one could bear threatening bouncer looks. Then he got in a Mercedes and drove off. Followed soon after by other important looking people in a very new and beautiful Jaguar.
