Viewfinder: Mavericks Movie Films on the Boardwalk Tuesday Night

Film makers lit up the Giant Dipper for a scene in the Jay Moriarity biopic called for now "Of Men and Mavericks."

If producers were hoping for stars Tuesday night, they had better create them in post production.

The chill Northern California fog was in as they filmed a scene in which Jay Moriarity scales the Giant Dipper and gets arrested.

Moriarity is played by actor Jonny Weston.

By the way: what do you think of the movie's title? It's a mouthful, right? Other suggested titles have included "Mavericks" and "Iron Cross," after the move that Moriarity did in a famous wipeout that graced the cover of Surfing Magazine.

Handmade signs around Pleasure Point Tuesday, where other scenes were filmed at Pleasure Pizza, gave directions to "Iron Cross," suggesting, perhaps, that some favored that title. But no, they are the name of one of the production companies involved in the shoot.

I think Iron Cross would be a better name for a movie.

Give your suggestions in the comments below. I would advise them to avoid "Of Men and Mavericks." It clunks off the tongue like a first-time surfer.

What do you think?
