This new program takes place at all New Leaf stores in the City of Santa Cruz and Capitola.

Tuesday April 16:

Ngaio Bealum

It's four days before that unheralded holiday celebrating reefer, 4/20, but comedian and writer DNA is hosting what he called the King of Cannabis Comedy, Ngaio Berlum, at 8:30 p.m. at the Blue Lagoon. Bealum has appeared, appropriately enough, in Amsterdam and on the Sarah Silverman program. Check his video here. Cost, $5.

Wednesday April 17:

Fashion Teen Show

Kathleen Croscetti, Mission Hills Middle School art teacher whose students have decorated two bridges leading over the San Lorenzo River with mosaics, is now bridging the fashion world.

For the past three years over 100 Mission Hill Middle School students have made fashions from recycled materials and have had standing room only runway shows.  This year, the school is joining with more than 100 teens from all over the county to present fashionTEENS a spring runway fashion show at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. Showtime is 7 p.m.

Tickets are $18.50 for premium reserved; $13.50 for reserved; and $7.50 for general admission. For tickets go to www.santacruztickets.com

Trent Reznor and How to Destroy Angels, Golden State Theater, Monterey

The Nine Inch Nails frontman whose recent sober and tedious discs make a bad statement about how good drugs can be for some people, is playing Monterey's Golden State Theater with a new band featuring his wife, Mariqueen Maandig.   Hear it here.  The single sounds pretty good and for NIN fans, this is the smallest place Reznor has played since he was starting out.

Thursday April 18

Preston Brahms

Don't forget that Hoffman's Restaurant has a great lineup of free jazz. Tonight at 6:30 - 8 p.m. Preston Brahm's Trio lays down the grooves. Best free entertainment in town.

Joe Bonamassa or Dead Can Dance?

There are two shows worth driving out of town for...but why are they both the same night?  Blues rocker Joe Bonamassa plays the San Jose Civic and world fusion avant gardistas Dead Can Dance play Monterey's Golden State Theater. Which would you recommend?

On his last live DVD, Bonamassa was joined by Eric Clapton. Do you need to hear more? With constant touring and regularly released CDs and DVDs Bonamassa has established himself as one of the top new generation blues/rockers. Here's a taste from last time he was in town in 2010.

Dead Can Dance, born in Australia and popular in the 80s, has been reincarnated for their first album together in 16 years. Tickets are $55.60 to $93.60 here. Check their performance in Greece here

Hey, what's up? Why isn't Santa Cruz bringing in shows like these?
