Join the Sweet Deed Society to Help Feed America

From now until August 8, Santa Cruz Organics is seeking do-gooder nominations and will donate $5 for each daily entry to Feeding America, a domestic hunger-relief charity.

Doing the right thing never tasted so good.

Santa Cruz Organic, maker of over 60 products ranging from fruit juice to chocolate sauce, has launched the Sweet Deed Society on its Facebook page.

From now until August 8, let the company know about a do-gooder in your life and $5 will go to Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity.

Keep the nominations coming until the society reaches 4,000 "sweet deeds,” amounting to $20,000. Those dollars translate into 160,000 meals for American families. Right now, about eight percent, or around $1,600, has been raised.

According to Consumer Goods Technology, $1 provides the equivalent of eight meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of food banks.

When you nominate a friend, you’ll be entered into a weekly drawing for a case of Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade Beverages as well as entered into the grand prize drawing. The grand prize—a weeklong seaside vacation awarded as a $3,500 check—will be awarded August 8.

Sweet deed nominees will also be entered in a separate drawing for their own beach get-away.

Winners will be announced on Santa Cruz Organic's Facebook page by September 14.

According to the Feeding America website, nearly 49 million Americans experience hunger. That's one in six citizens, including more than one in five children.
