IHOP Fundraiser for Heart Transplant Patient Patrick Carroll

Fundraiser for Patrick Carroll - a 36 year old Watsonville husband and father of two school age kids who is waiting for a heart transplant.

IHOP Capitola will be donating a generous percentage of all its receipts to Patrick's National Transplant Assistance Fund account from everyone who buys a meal November 3rd from 7am to 10pm. Just download and print a copy of the fundraiser flyer at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Patricks-Long-Road-Ahead/148194351889449  bring your copy of the flyer, hand it to your server and enjoy your meal.  Information on organ donation and how to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor will be available.

Post-transplant Patrick will be unable to work for at least 2 or 3 months and his family will have no income. Insurance covers the transplant, but it doesn't cover the lodging after the transplant (the transplant hospital typically requires transplant patients who live far away to live nearby for 3 months). On top of having to pay lodging for those 3 months, Patrick and his family will also have to pay their rent and normal utilities at home.

After the transplant Patrick will be on dozens of medications. Two of those meds have a $6000 insurance copay. It is likely the family can get help with
prescriptions, but they cannot even apply for help until after Patrick receives the transplant.

Help will also be needed for gas, food, hospital parking, and anything else that comes up. After the transplant Patrick will be in the hospital for around 2 weeks if all goes well. Then he will have to be at the hospital a few times a
week. So gas and parking will add up fast.
