Sparkling Wine Tasting & Appreciation Class with Barry Jackson, Equinox

In time for the holidays when you need some delicious bubbly to toast in the New Year comes a wine appreciation class and tasting with the master of bubbly, Barry Jackson of Equinox Champagne Cellars in Santa Cruz. Learn about the production of sparkling wine and taste different sparkling wine styles. Learn about the history of sparkling wine; production regions for sparkling wine in the U.S. and Europe; the grape varieties used to make sparkling wine; how sparkling wine is made, including harvest, bottling, aging, riddling, disgorging and corking; tirage and dosage; and sparkling wine styles including Blanc de Blanc and Blanc de Noir, cremant, and blends. There will be a lot of tasting to illustrate!

Visitors often meet and talk directly with the winemakers.
