Free Movies on the Beach: 'The Lost Boys,' Filmed in Santa Cruz

The cult classic starts the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's free series at 9 p.m. Wednesday.

A free showing of the 1987 Santa Cruz-filmed cult classic vampire film, The Lost Boys, starts the Wednesday summer film series at the Boardwalk.

They've got a giant screen and good sound, and this will take you back to the old days, when outdoor movies were a summer mainstay.

This flick launched more than a few stars: Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, Alex Winter, Jamison Newlander and Barnard Hughes.

It was also filmed right here and has had a special place in the heart of Santa Cruzans.

This was a take on vampires long before The Twilight Saga, so it should bring in new fans as well.

The movies start at 9 p.m.
