NextSpace Opens a Chicago Location

Another Santa Cruz business has spread its wings and landed on new terrain. NextSpace, the shared office business, is opening a Chicago branch.

After starting in Santa Cruz, it has locations in Berkeley, San Francisco and Los Angeles. It bought a business that was doing the same thing, called the Chicago Coop.

According to this article in the Chicago Tribunethe deal was done in July and announced this week. NextSpace was founded by former Santa Cruz Mayor Ryan Coonerty, former economic development director Jeremy Neuner and attorney Caleb Baskin.

Membership at NextSpace ranges from $215 a month for a cafe membership, which allows you to work in a shared communal living room-like space and includes four hours a month of conference room time, to $2,000 for a large private office.

This announcement comes on the tail of the local Verve Coffee Roasting business announcing moves to San Francisco and Los Angeles.
