It seems like forever since the once-protested chain store Borders left town and left behind a giant hole in the retail of Pacific Avenue.
But Saturday Forever 21, the youthful women's clothing store, is scheduled to open and plug the gap (across from the Gap).

Forever 21 is set to open a new location in downtown Santa Cruz on Pacific Avenue. A grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, August 11th at 10:00 am. The first 300 customers in line will receive a free gift card and four lucky winners will win one of the season’s hottest outfits, valued up to $150, on Grand Opening Day!
The new space will offer Santa Cruz shoppers a wide selection of merchandise in 21,000 square feet of retail space. Complementing Forever 21® apparel and accessories, the store will also feature the retailer’s other brands, including 21MEN™, a line of fresh, fast fashion for men of all ages; Forever 21 Girls™, a girls’ line; and Love & Beauty™ cosmetics, lingerie and shoes line.
