Readers' Choice: St. Patrick's Day Celebration Spots

The holiday marks a break from Lenten restrictions and celebrates an Irish saint who brought Catholics and Protestants together. It's a big time to party around Santa Cruz County. Where do you think is the best place to ring it in?

So many parties, so little time.

Where do Patch readers suggest we go for a March 17 party to mark St. Patrick's Day, the Irish Cinco de Mayo? The holiday marks the life of St. Patrick who lived from the years 387-461 and is linked with the bringing of Christianity to Ireland.

Where is the greenest beer and the heartiest corned beef and cabbage? We have some suggestions but need your votes to ring true. Tell us where and why you like your favorite St. Pat's spot.

Here are some we've come across:

In Santa Cruz,  at the Boardwalk Bowl has the Wild Rovers. has Irish music by Tater Famine and Northern Rails. has Irish music by the Irish Rovers.  has Irish music by the Pour House and the Lucky Charms, plus corned beef.  has a St. Paddy's Blues Bash with Michael Landau and Maxx Cabello.

In Scotts Valley, has Irish singers, green beer and corned beef and cabbage. has samplings of Irish cheese to go with special wines.

Santa Cruz's Irish pub is as authentic as it gets.
