Santa Cruz Public Library Offers Free Business Seminars

If you own a small business, take advantage of the seminars conducted at the Central Branch.

Our libraries are a fabulous resource for so many things, including information and advice for small businesses.

For the remainder of 2011, the Santa Cruz Public Library is hosting a series of free, hour-long seminars on a variety of topics. The next one titled “Social Media for Retailers and Restaurants—What’s New” is scheduled for Thursday June 9, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the downtown Santa Cruz Central Branch.

It’s becoming more important than ever for businesses to be connected to their markets (existing and potential) through the use of social media. Sites such as Facebook and Twitter are powerful marketing tools that all types of businesses—especially retailers and restaurants—should be using. And the library’s June 9th seminar will help you take full advantage of these tools.

The library brings in professionals who are experts in the area being discussed at a particular seminar. For instance, at the “Search Engine Optimization—Are You Visible?” seminar in May, Andrew Arenson of Equity Marketing Solutions taught business owners  about keywords, body content, meta tags and other tricks to make your website more visible and searchable.

You can also access handouts and other information from previous seminars on the library’s website.
