Tuesday is the Cheapest Night to Go Out in Santa Cruz

Over 50 businesses offer significant deals on Tuesdays, as a way to attract locals.

Remember these words: I heart downtown Santa Cruz.

They are the key words that can save you some serious money at Santa Cruz businesses, but only on Tuesdays, when over fifty restaurants and retail stores offer generous deals for "Downtown Tuesday."

The idea is to entice locals downtown to hang out and support Santa Cruz businesses when there aren't throngs of tourists taking over the sidewalks.

"It started actually out of a conversation with some of the restaurants downtown," said Chip of the Downtown Association. There are still some great restaurant deals (some have even offered to let kids eat for free), as well as a slew of shopping deals.

Both the Stripe Mens and Womens store offers 20% off your entire purchase if you remember to say "I heart Santa Cruz."

"A lot of people come in especially on Tuesdays just because of it," said Dana Norrell of Stripe.

Other deals include Happy Hour all night at the Red Room, 20 percent off paperback fictions book at Bookshop Santa Cruz, and 15 percent off olive oils from all over the world at the True Olive Connection.

That is just the start! For the full list of Downtown Tuesday deals, visit the Downtown Tuesday Weekly Deals page.

"It's a nice little community locals night downtown.  It makes a lot of sense because it's a good night to go out when you're not going to have to wait in lines, there aren't a lot of people out," said Chip.

Downtown Tuesday has been going on for two or three years now, did you know about it?
