Making the World Better, One Woman at a Time

In honor of International Women's Day, I want to give a shout out to the women of Santa Cruz County who inspire each of us through their compassion, willingness to bolster others, or their drive to bring forth a better tomorrow.

Working at the Volunteer Center, I have had the fortune of meeting so many women who have given their time to make the world a better place.

Women like...Jana who draws on her professional skills to motivate young people to be stewards of the earth,  Savanna who helps individuals rebuild their lives after incarceration, or Justine a high school student who has a volunteer resume so long you wonder when she has time to sleep.

In my work with volunteers, I am constantly reminded of the power of one to make change.

At the Volunteer Center, we have amassed quite a collection of video stories, photo essays, and written narratives about individuals who are making their moments matter through meaningful volunteer action. I invite you to be inspired by the stories of women making a difference in our local community.
