What:  Glow, A Festival of Fire

When:  7p.m. – 10p.m.

Where:  Museum of Art & History, Cooper Street and Abbott Square

Why Go:  This heated event may make you feel like you’re at Burning Man or at least imagine that you are.  Musical flames, flaming art sculptures, fire dancers, and everything ablaze ‘may amaze and inspire you.’

What:  Heritage Harvest Festival and Draft Horse Day

When:  10a.m. – 4p.m.

Where:  Wilder Ranch State Park

Why Go:  There will be draft horse wagon rides, blue grass and western music, living history demonstrations, corn husk doll making, choose a pumpkin from the patch to decorate activity, apple samples of over 70 organic varieties, and even a game of snap-apple.  Don’t miss the apple and pumpkin pie or the hand-cranked pumpkin ice cream, yum!

What:  Full Moon Madness:  Astronomy Night

When:  6:30p.m. – 9p.m.

Where:  Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park main entrance

Why Go:  A fun family event that won’t bore the teenagers.  This thrilling adventure will take you into the forest by the light of the full moon.  NASA's Dr. Chris McKay, will talk about his research into finding life in the universe.  There will also be refreshments, music, and craft activities for kids.

What:  Lime Making in the Valley, presented by the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History

When:  10 a.m. – 1p.m.

Where:  Bull and Bennet Creeks in Felton

Why Go:  Take this opportunity to check out the land of the historical lime kilns and quarry sites that are normally closed to the public, owned by the San Lorenzo Valley Water District.  Renowned historian and geologist Frank Perry leads the hike and hopes to educate people on habitats in the area both past and present.  “This is a rare chance to explore an unknown facet of Felton History,” says Perry.

What:  Beer, Brats & Blues at the Chaminade

When:  3p.m. – 6p.m.

Where:  Chaminade Resort & Spa

Why Go:  There will be plenty of craft brew from several county breweries including Seabright Brewery, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery, Discretion Brewery, Santa Cruz Ale Works, West End Tap & Kitchen.  Assorted sausages and sides will complement the brew and live blues by Greg Henderson and the “Greyhound Blues Band.”

When:  11a.m. – 5p.m.
