Why Go: North America’s longest running surf contest returns! The Invitational will include a 16-man field of competitors. The 2013 title winner will receive a year’s worth of sponsor support by O’Neill, an estimated value of $50,000. In honor of local legend Jason “Ratboy” Collins, local surfers will also participate as part of the “Ratboy Rampage.”

What: Pop Up Museum; Drinking is in the Heart
When: 3p.m. – 5p.m.
Where: Red Restaurant and Bar
Why Go: Come share a drink, stories, or artifacts at the Red during “happy hour,” and check out some rare Santa Cruz drinking memorabilia by Historian Geoffrey Dunn and Collector Bob Welch. Santa Cruz includes a history of Rum-running during Prohibition, brothels, and more. This event, focusing on spirits, is part of the series of “Santa Cruz is in the heart of pop-up museums,” taking the museum out of the museum.
