What:  Bay Area Flamenco Festival Presents David Serva & Friends

When:  8p.m.  (Doors open at 7:30p.m.)

Where:  Kuumbwa Jazz Center

Why Go:  Celebrate over 50 years of Flamenco with the Bay Area’s foundational influence of David Serva as he’s joined by Gypsy Musicians and Spanish dancers Jose Galvez “El Duende,” Kina Mendez, and Luis de la Tota.

What:  Maoli, Jordan T & One a Chord

When:  9p.m.  (Doors open at 8p.m.)

Where:  Moe’s Alley

Why Go:  Maoli are joined by guests Jordan T & One a Chord, and will perform recent radio hits including “Blew It,” and “Somethin’ About Your Love,”  from their new CD release entitled, “Arise.”  Also known for their 2007 debut CD entitled, “Groovin,” this Hawaiian group was introduced to the mainstream for their hits, “Write me a Letter,” and “No One.”  In 2009, “Whisper,” and “Breaking my Heart,” debuted off their “Rock Easy,” CD.

What:  The 7th Annual Sausage Fest 2013

When:  4p.m. – 7p.m.

Where:  Corner of Western and Mission St. Ext. (Westside Farmer’s Market)

Why Go:  Support “Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks,” while enjoying local artisan sausages with handmade kraut, mustards, and relishes, brews of the Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing Co., and live music.

What:  Santa Cruz County Symphony Concert 2013/ 14 Seasons Opening Concert

When:  8p.m. in Santa Cruz; (Sunday, 2p.m. in Watsonville)

Where:  Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium and the Henry J. Mello Center

Why Go:  Maestro Daniel Stewart will lead this year’s Symphony as Santa Cruz Symphony’s new director while bringing exciting performances to the stage including pianist Jeffrey Kahane.

What:  USA/Boardwalk Cheer & Dance Competition

When:  Saturday and Sunday

Where:  Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Why Go:  This exciting event happens to be the only Northern California cheer and dance competition on the beach.  Candidates from all over the state including youth sport, all-star, Jr. High and High School teams will compete to qualify for the 2014 USA National Events.

Cost:   Admission is free

What:  The 2nd Annual Cookies for Cancer Bake Sale

               Scott’s Valley (Scott’s Valley Market)

          Watsonville Plaza ( Jacob’s Heart 'Kidrageous’)

 Why Go:  Pediatric cancer is the number one disease killer of children in the U.S.  Team G partners with Cookies for Cancer to bring much needed awareness and funds to further research and help lower the statistics of this deadly nightmare.  Sadly, seven children die every day to Pediatric cancer.  The goal:  “Team Partners with Cookies for Cancer Bake Sale and aims to raise $20,000 to eradicate childhood cancer.”
