What's on your Halloween Agenda? Get Out for First Friday and the Rest of the Weekend....

How do you plan to spend your All Hallow’s Eve?  Here are a few suggestions straight from the Patch…..

What:  Trick or Treating on the Wharf

Where:  At participating wharf businesses

Why Go:  Take the little ones trick or treating in a secure location and bypass the neighborhood madness.  Finish up just in time for a moonlit, ocean view dinner on the wharf.

What: Haunted Hotel Halloween Party

When:  8p.m. – 1a.m.

Where:  Hotel Paradox

Why Go:  This costume party should be a scary fun time with live music featuring The Soft White Sixties, and opening band, Stomping Grounds.  There will be drinks, apps, and devilicious desserts.

What:  The 6th Annual Monster Bash Masquerade

When:  7p.m. – 1a.m.

Where:  The Coconut Grove Ballroom

Why Go:  This spine tingling costume event features the music of OPIUO, Liberation Movement, Vibesquad, JPod, and Little John. 

Cost:  $35/general admission, $40/at the door

What:  Harry and the Hitmen

When:  8p.m. –

Where:  Bocci’s Cellar

Why Go:  Get down and spooky with the soul classics and “psychedelic rock” sound of Harry and the Hitmen on All Hallows Eve.  Then enjoy the rhythm of funk with On the Spot Trio.  Everyone is encouraged to wear a costume.

Cost:  $10/door


What:  Paul Oakenfold, Trance Mission USA

When:  9p.m. show (doors open at 8p.m.)

Where:  The Catalyst

Why Go:  Rolling Stone, Remix and more have touted Oakenfold as one of the world’s leading DJ’s/remix artists. This celebrity will be scratching his stuff for All Hallow’s to enjoy this Halloween night.  Check him out for yourself!

Cost:  $27/advance; $30/door

                                       Friday…….

What:  First Friday Santa Cruz

When:  11a.m. – 9p.m.

Where:  Museum of Art & History

Why Go:  Live music from 6:30p.m. - 9p.m., a no-host bar from 5p.m.- 9p.m., an art activity for all ages, and a festive atmosphere outside the Mah as people flock the streets of downtown art-town.

Cost:  Free admission 

 

                                   Saturday…………

What:  Santa Cruz Sea Glass & Ocean Art Festival

When:  10a.m. – 5p.m. (Saturday & Sunday)

Where:  Cocoanut Grove Ballroom

Why Go:  With the holidays just around the corner, don’t miss this fun opportunity to brighten up a friend or loved one’s day with a gift made of sea glass.  Over 40 artists will display their pieces and 10% of proceeds are donated to the Marine Sanctuary.  There will be a free raffle on Saturday.

Cost:  $5/admission, free for children under six.

 

                                   Sunday…………

What:  Discover Big Basin

When:  12:00 noon

Where:  Park Headquarters, Big Basin

Why Go:  Take in the cool air and natural beauty of the forest before the season turns cold and rainy.  Docent Barry Grimm will lead this 4-hr./ 4-mile leisurely hike.  Layers for changeable weather, water, and comfortable shoes are recommended.  Don’t forget the camera!

Cost:  $10 parking fee
