Santa Cruz Police Seek Help Finding Man Indicted for Sex Assault and Kidnapping

Police are looking for Trey Powell, 22, 6 feet tall with brown eyes and a buzz cut. He's lived in Scotts Valley and Soquel.

Santa Cruz Police say a 22-year-old man sexually assaulted and kidnapped a woman on Sunday and they are looking for help finding him.

The incident occurred in the city and outside city limits. Powell, who has guns, has lived in Soquel and Scotts Valley recently, they said.

He was last seen driving a GMC utility vehicle with a blue stripe, cracked windshield and black roof rack. He also owns a white Ford Crown Victoria.

Police said Powell is aware that law enforcement is seeking his arrest and may have changed vehicles (to something different from the two mentioned above).

Mr. Powell is known to county law enforcement and has previous arrests for weapons related charges and domestic violence. The female victim received medical treatment and was released and has been connected to victim services. Her information is being withheld to ensure her confidentiality, police said.
