Community Corner

ART BEAT Youth Arts Festival

The Art Beat Youth Arts Festival is a creative expression of the
Community Partnership for Youth (CPY) Visual and Performing Arts Academy. CPY is a prevention
program providing positive alternatives to gangs, drugs and violence while
reinforcing individual strengths. Our vision is to provide our youth with a
safe, structured environment that encourages healthy boundaries, positive
self-esteem and the ability to make good choices for a full and successful
life.

The Art Beat Youth Arts Festival’s
Mission Statement is to encourage student’s creative expression by celebrating
their talents and sharing their artistic achievements with the community.

March is National Youth Arts Month and
is celebrated throughout the United States.  Art Beat’s first annual event will focus on students from the
Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, as well as Community Art
Organizations such as Guitars Not Guns and Dance Kids of Monterey County.

Join us on March 22nd, 2014 at Del Monte Center, which will
highlight dance, music, singing and group instrumentals, spoken word poetry and
drama. Come prepared to be creative and join others at interactive “Creation
Stations” and a Community Public Art Project.
