Chefs from all around Northern California compete in this exciting event. The public can purchase tasting kits to sample any of the 70 chowders prepared by both professional and amateur chefs. Manhattan and Boston clam chowders are represented. Cooking teams often sport clamtastic themes.
All proceeds from the Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off benefit the City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department. Last year the event attracted more than 70 entries and thousands of chowder fans, bringing in $70,000.00 for Parks and Recreation Department programs.
Admission to the “rain or shine” Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook Off & Festival on Saturday, February 23, 2013 is free.
