Peter Brötzmann and Paal Nilssen – Love Duo
Peter Brötzmann’s decades-long championing of Europe’s spontaneous improvisation movement has inspired his nickname, “The Godfather of Free Jazz.” Now in his seventies, the maverick saxophonist has teamed up with top Scandinavian drummer Paal Nilssen–Love for a duo trip into uncharted musical territory where anything can happen on the spur of the moment. Pat Metheny has said Paal is one of the best musicians he has heard in years. DownBeatmagazine called Paal, “one of the most innovative, dynamic and versatile drummers in jazz!” And Brötzmann, himself, shows no signs of slowing down. He is as uncompromising now as he ever was. Long Story Short is Brötzmann’s most recent CD release.
