Ray Brown’s Great Big Band

Ray Brown, former Jazz trumpet player and/or arranger for Stan Kenton and Count Basie, brings his Great Big Band, one of the most contemporary and exciting big bands of today, to the Cabrillo College Crocker Theater. The band’s book, creatively written by Ray, gives literally all the players ample time to solo. Standing room audiences from the Monterey Jazz Festival to the Stanford Jazz Festival to Kuumbwa to the Lake Tahoe Music Festival are evidence of the band’s popularity. The band’s latest CD, Kayak, has enjoyed airplay throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Europe.
