Route 1 Farms Summer Dinner

It’s hard to believe that this is our fifth year of gathering the
community to share a meal in our farm fields. Each dinner is a unique
experience with local chefs who create menus that are seasonal, creative
and mouth watering. Eating local doesn't get any better or more truly
local than this as most of the produce comes right from the fields that
we will be dining in.

Our guest chef will be Damani Thomas of
Oswald's in Santa Cruz. Damani was one of our first farm dinner chefs
and now it's become a tradition for him to be the chef at the last
dinner of each season. This year we decided to mix it up and have him be
our first chef of the season. Though we truly love his parsnip and
sunchoke mash, we wanted to give him the opportunity to create a menu
based on spring veggies and fruit.

The evening will start at 4 pm
with a welcome reception to be followed by a roughly half mile hike
lead by Farmer Jeff Larkey, through Rancho del Oso which is part of Big
Basin Redwoods State Park. Jeff will share his knowledge and the history
of the land, the wildlife and his time farming there. The tour will end
at our dinner site right in the field beneath one of our orchards!
