Join us at the 33rd
award-winning Greek Festival in Downtown Santa Cruz. The Greek Food &
Cultural Festival was voted Best Festival again in 2013! The Greek Festival is
the longest running festival in Santa Cruz County, growing from a small
celebration in the church courtyard to a huge block party. The air will be filled with lively Bouzouki
music and tantalizing aromas of delicious Greek specialties like BBQ souvlaki
and Gyro. You’ll find our usual crowd
pleasers like moussaka, roasted lamb shank, calamari and pastitsio, as well as
a wide variety of vegetarian selections.
The Taverna will be serving beer, Greek wine, and traditional Greek
spirits. After dinner, sweet pastries and delicacies include the ever-popular
Baklava and Loukoumades. This year we
are introducing several new dessert items including Baklava Cheesecake, Baklava
Brownies, Revani, and Greek Cannoli (who knew?!). The Kafenio will be whipping up authentic
Greek Frappe, a chilled drink shaken by hand in the traditional manner of all
cafes in Greece, as well as our thick Greek coffee, prepared to order. The Greek Agora includes ethnic jewelry,
potter, clothing and food items. The kids
can enjoy the Mt. Olympus climbing wall and face painting. Greek dancers from all over the Bay Area,
dressed in traditional costumes will perform a variety of folk dances handed
down for hundreds of years. Dance
schedules are posted on our website and Facebook page. Buy a raffle ticket to win a trip to Naxos Island
(including airfare!). Bring the whole
family and Eat Like a Greek for a day!
Fri. 5-10pm, Sat. 11a-10pm, Sun. 12-8pm.
